I was walking by a clump of goldenrod the other day and it was very clear it had a message to share. I turned back to see what it was. "I have many uses for which humans are mostly unaware of because of being mislead into believing that I cause allergic responses. I am an important plant that spreads with the help of pollinators. I do not discard my pollen to the wind. Do not confuse me with my counterpart Ragweed. Ragweed grows nearby and blooms in tandem to me but disperses its pollen in the wind. As fewer plants bloom in late summer heading into fall, I am in important food source to many insects. Please do not rip me out and discard me. I offend you not. And do not discourage the little ones who pick me for bouquets to offer love to their mothers. If you allow me, I can bring joy with my abundant little yellow flowers. And if you should open your hearts then your ears, you can hear my sweet song that the pollinators love so much. Allow me to tell you about my friend Ragweed. Ragweed sends thousands and thousands of pollen seeds into the air when the wind blows. Ragweed wants to go far and wide. It is hard to believe that from its nodule looking blooms that so much pollen can be released but it goes to show you that one should not judge another from its appearance. But please permit me to ask you some questions. Why are you so bothered by your allergic responses? If my colleague Ragweed’s pollen inflames you so much, why are you not exploring that emotion? What is it that irritates you so that your body wants you to know? Ragweed has other uses as well, but I will leave that for you to discover should it interest you. Should you wish to explore me further, I would be delighted to guide you! If not, then at least remember that I am needed as a food source to others. I wish to express my gratitude for extending me the respect of listening to me." I tuned into goldenrod's song and this is how it was translated to me. I hope you enjoy it. It stuck with me for most of the day! Or tune into the picture and see what song comes up for you. Always grateful to be nature's voice.
Message me to hear Goldenrod's song.
